Deaths of 10 Jawans in Gaya a small news because the killers bore Hindu, not Muslims Names

Deaths of 10 Jawans in Gaya a small news because the killers bore Hindu, not Muslims Names

Even if there were a rumour that a Muslim had killed a cow, a volcano would have erupted.

Yesterday, when the news of the deaths of 10 personnel of Indian armed forces in Gaya at the hands of the Naxalites first appeared on TV, I thought it might lead to a storm in Lok Sabha, which was under progress in Parliament House. Nothing happened. The coverage of the news seemed to have no sense of urgency or shock. The evening debate programmes on different channels did not consider it news worthy of debate. There was of course no statement even from Home Minister, what to speak of Prime Minister. The international media too preferred to remain moot on this terrorist attack and preferred to continue discussing Qandeel’s death in Pakistan. Some newspapers of today including Rashtrya Sahara Urdu have given front page coverage to a Muslim teenager injuring a few dozen with a sword in Germany before being killed (instead of being overpowered) by the police while Gaya news appears on inside pages.

If even a few persons had been injured in an attack by a suspected Muslim “terrorist”, the media would have gone berserk. What to speak of human beings, even if there were a rumour that a Muslim had killed a cow, a volcano would have erupted.

According to figures available, a total number of 241 deaths have occurred till July 17 this year in the Left terrorist violence. The only terrorist attack related to “Islamic” terrorism this year occurred in Pathankot killing 3 Jawans.  But the India media is always busy discussing the “threats” from Islamic terrorism.

According to various sources, several hundred terrorist organisations are operating in the country. Most of these are being operated by people bearing Hindu names, leftists or rightists. Yet, nobody remembers the names of these organisations except a few and nobody knows the names of their leaders.

Till when this categorisation of violence based on the identity of the culprit or the victim rather than the magnitude of violence will continue? Till when the International institutions and the media keep mum on larger violence caused by Western wars and West-sponsored civil wars? Till when Indian institutions and media keep focusing on smaller violence caused by Muslims rather than caused by other terrorist outfits across India and by army in Kashmir?

The approach paper is important because it is the first comprehensive approach paper for trying to analyze the Muslim Perspective of India’s goals of development and developing a national level multi-faceted, holistic strategy for the socio-economic empowerment of Muslims within the parameters of Islam, Indian culture and national interests.”
